Revival Preparations

REVIVALS

God is eager to manifest His reviving presence and power in every generation. But we must take steps for the release of His fullness in our midst.

On the eve of their passage over the Jordan River into the promised land, Joshua charged the children of Israel to prepare their hearts: "...Sanctify yourselves, for tomorrow the Lord will do wonders among you." (Joshua 3:5)

The Psalmist understood the importance of spiritual revival:  "Righteousness shall go before Him and shall set us in the way of Hid steps." (Psalm 85:13)

Growth Campaigns

Hey Pastors & Church Leaders!

We know, sometimes, the picture of a "Revival" is counter-intuitive to our culture. Or we don't have the time to schedule another service...let alone another week! That's where a Spiritual Growth Campaign can be the solution for any church that is seeking to be evangelistic and disciple followers of Jesus Christ.

NC Evangelists can help you saturate your congregation & community with a Spiritual Growth Emphasis...customized to your needs, and Biblically relevant to today's society.  Here are some Spriritual Growth Campaign Ideas and Examples...even using your own Sermons and Sunday School Leaders... to follow the Great Commission:

  • Love God, Love Others: A 4 week Plan (LiveSite Network)
  • Growing Great Families: A 4 week Plan (LiveSite Network)
  • The Purpose Driven Life: A 40 day Campaign (Rick Warren & Saddleback)
  • EKG: Empowering Kingdom Growth (Hemphill; Lifeway)
  • One Month To Live
  • 3:16 The Numbers of Hope (M. Lucado)
  • Radical (D. Platt; StudentLife)

Preparation

While each evangelistic ministry has its own policy regarding arrangements, fees and honorarium, here are some general guidelines on how to prepare for an evangelist in your church ... Please contact each individual evangelist regarding their policies.

Once a date has been confirmed with a vocational evangelist, the pastor and evangelist should agree to begin praying for the event. The pastor should also lead the church in a concerted effort of prayer for the upcoming event. Many churches have successfully used home/cottage prayer meetings, special prayer services or daily-designated prayer times. Prayer may be the most important element in preparation for an event with a vocational evangelist.

The church leader should clearly communicate to the church the calling and ministry of the vocational evangelist. This includes the fact that vocational evangelism is a life of faith. Unlike a pastor or church staff person the vocational evangelist does not receive a guaranteed salary each week. Instead, the evangelist is dependent on financial gifts, love offerings and honorariums. The church should take into consideration the financial needs of a vocational evangelist. This includes reimbursement for the expenses incurred while at the church. A nightly love offering plus an honorarium from the church may insure that the church's financial responsibility to the evangelist is met.

A good way to remember the evangelists's needs is using the "4 -M Plan:"

  • Mileage (Travel expenses to & from your event)
  • Meals: (providing a meal at the event or reimbursements for purchased meals)
  • Motel: (lodging secured for the evangelist/team)
  • Ministry ( Love offering or conference stipend for your revival or event)

Remember that when you give to a vocational evangelist you are providing the basic financial needs for the evangelist and the evangelist's family... as well as making an investment in the evangelist's ministry.
